I realise even though I countdown to the end of my contract almost everyday, I actually love my job a lot. Although the things I do everyday are super repetitive, and I feel that I've been working for a loooong time already because I'm beginning to recognise many patients that come back regularly, I saw and learnt so many things. Learning to deal with patients that refuse to cooperate, patients that are super super angsty, patients that can't stop telling you their life stories and you're panicking because the casenotes are piling up and you can begin to foresee patients outside complaining about the long waiting time... In the past 7 weeks, I've also picked up the ability to keep a straight face and remain calm and composed in unexpected situations hahaha :P I remember the first time the casenote and the patient did not match, I panicked in front of the patient and was very flustered. Then sister pulled me to one side and told me "next time cannot panic in front of the patient". From then on whenever such things happen, I'm glad that I've learnt to be composed enough to smile and say "sorry I need to check something." Something that I'm proud of myself for :):) But more than the learning opportunities, what makes me love eye clinic so much is the people over there. When I first accepted this job offer, I thought that I'll just cling to Weihui for the whole time and we'll 相依为命. But both of us found Berlyn! This super cute and lively and friendly (if Berlyn sees this she'll give her zhao pai act cute flower pose! HAHAHA) agency nurse who joined eye clinic at the same time as us. The three of us are known as the "小妹妹"s and "The Three Musketeers" of the eye clinic ;D So thankful for her vivacity and liveliness that made work so much more fun and joyful ^^ There was this day C43 was packed with patients and I was super stressed out. Berlyn and I were in sister's room chopping the VA/DBE stamps. Then Berlyn just "shmoosh shmoosh"ed me. Hahahaha since then it became our way of expressing affection to each other! :3 More than that, I never thought that I'll be on close terms with my colleagues in eye clinic. I accepted this job offer thinking that it will be like everywhere else where people will just mind their own businesses and not bother about you. I bet Weihui thought so too HAHAHA :P But eye clinic is so full of lovely people who are so ready to teach and to help. Like sister who always opens our VA room doors to check if we are okay, and if we're not she'll really help us do VA and clear our stacks of casenotes. She's like our VA partner already! Theresa our senior PSA who makes us feel so appreciated by thanking us for helping them even though we're really just doing our job. And she's super nice she gave us a packet of sweets each today to congratulate us for our A level results! ^^ I won't name our colleagues one by one but I'm just so thankful for every one of them in eye clinic for making us feel so welcomed :) The nurses, fellow PSAs, and the optometrists whom we always laugh, joke, eat and tease each other with. So thankful for them for always brightening up my days with their cheerfulness and warmth :) And yes! One thing I love about eye clinic too is that the pantry always has goodies!! Shared and contributed by fellow colleagues and doctors hahaha. Yum yum! Today Weihui and I contributed by buying goodies for them too since we have good results hahaha :) Quite BHB though, cos Weihui wrote on the 3 biscuit tins "From the cute girls, Weihui & Jermia", "From the pretty girls, Weihui & Jermia", and "From the young girls, Weihui & Jermia" respectively HAHAHAHA oh well~~ Last but not least, the doctors! HAHAHAHA won't forget their 经典 moments like when HL came into the pantry when we were eating maggi mee for lunch. Then he was like "Something smells nice! Is that instant noodles? But it still smells so nice!" "What brand is that?" "I know meh kee! I see it at the siewpermarket!" OMG Berlyn Weihui and I 忍笑到内伤 already LOL! XD And Siti cracked an egg in her bowl of maggi mee then HL exclaimed "But it's raw!" thinking that she's going to eat raw egg HAHAHA epic HL. And Brew Soup's famous story of shining the iPhone torchlight into a patient's eyes to check his eyesight (Y) After this week ends, it will just be a month away to the end of my contract. I think from now on instead of counting down to the end of my contract, I'll really begin to treasure the time I have left in the eye clinic. :')
