http://stopthe-pretence.blogspot.sg/2012/03/truth-behind-my-jc-life.html?m=1

This blog post has been spreading like wildfire amongst the JC community recently. It really reflects the competitive environment in JCs and it's kind of good to know that we are not alone in the struggle towards achieving good academic results. Like many readers of this blog post, I can understand and relate to her. Even though it's often said that we should examine our own progress instead of comparing our results to our peers, it's hard to do so because it's really hard to catch up once you're left behind. Comparison is inevitable as opportunities are only given to the best and the brightest, they are something we have to work hard and fight for. Like many other people, I used to think that good grades come naturally (or at least lesser effort can be put in) when we are in Hwa Chong. However, being in Hwachong for these few months has really taught me that 这个世界上没有事情是不劳而获的。We may be perceived as being smarter, but the effort and hardwork we put in in our academics will not be lesser. Sometimes it just seems that nothing else can be more important than studying hard at this stage of our lives. Everything else can be put aside. Which is sad. Mugging has devoured our lives. Haish.

To some, or rather many of us, it's depressing reading about this senior who put in so much hardwork studying but in the end still got results that are not up to her expectations. We fear that that might happen to us too, or some of us begin to lament the fact that we are trapped and thrown into this competition that we mustn't lose, that so much hardwork has to be put in for that one certificate. However, there are lessons we can learn from this senior that can make our lives a little easier and perhaps less miserable. Through her blog post, I saw the importance of discipline and consistency. In high school, we could study the night before and 'smoke through' the exams and it's still possible to get an A1. However, do this in JC and you may not even be guaranteed a pass. With the enormous amount of information coupled with the skills and answering techniques that we can only acquire through completing our tutorials and really learning from our mistakes, it is impossible to cram all of these into one night. Consistent hardwork has to be put in to make sure that you can understand what is being taught, and we must have the discipline to make sure that we complete our tutorials and assignments. We should also have the initiative to approach our tutors and ask when we are in doubt. Really, last minute chionging does not work in JC. Slack and you shall pay. It costs me a fail in a Chemistry lecture test to really give me a wake up call. 'True enough'! (inside joke) xP

Fortunately for me, I have friends as pillars of support and sources of motivation to study hard :) 近朱者赤,近墨者黑。I'm really thankful to have so many 朱s around me. 猪朋狗友s AHAHAHAHA xDD Nah just joking. I love yall! -@- It's really important to be in the right company. Yup it's true that I have smarties around me and they can help me whenever I have difficulty understanding, but what's more important is that I know these zhus will always be there for me whenever I need them, spurring me on when I feel like giving up ;D True friends with 'genuine connection(s)' (as quoted from our GP compre on solitude...) with us are particularly important in this stage of our lives when we face many uncertainties and doubt ourselves and our abilities sometimes. Friends strengthen us and they are what make JC life more bearable, and memorable :):) It's sad that our senior couldn't find a friend she could really confide in, or else her JC experience would be a lot more pleasant.

Would like to end this post wishing all of you all the best for our ongoing block tests! Yup it's really tough, but we'll pull through this together. As one homely Hwachong. Hahaha :DD Put in our very best and have no regrets ;) This is one of the many hurdles we are going to face in our lives. Do not be complacent if you do well, and do not give up or be depressed if you don't.

Jiayou!! ^^

This song is stuck inside my head xD

Sunday 17 June 2012

Happy Fathers' Day to my dearest Heavenly Father
my papa and to all fathers around the world! :D

Had Juniors-Treat-Seniors on the first week of holidays
We booked a chalet and had barbeque!
Cos the seniors were busy mugging for the block tests
so in the end only 6 turned up
but we still had fun! :)

Kaixuan's PW group had their Focused Group Discussion
while we were still eating
Then William Wong was like a poor shepherd
calling all the sheeps back :P
Xiu and I were hiding at a corner with a few otahs with us
and we continued eating like gluttons 8D

I remember their group asked
"how early do you think children should be exposed to sex ed?"
then a senior answered "7 o'clock!"
HAHAHA omggg it's super win! (Y)

The Focused Group Discussion really 让我见识到
the guys' raging hormones =/

Went back to NY for Homecoming! ^^
HAHAHA people went back in pretty dresses
and sanbas went back in our yellow sanba tee! :D:D
We went back to troll seriously
and we owned the stage during Don't Forget the Lyrics!
Went up as a class and sang 'Home'
Really love the feeling of us singing together as a class ;D

After that we marched back to HC as a yellow gang
and attracted much attention heehee xD!
People were staring at us in amusement
Met Wang Mingren when crossing the bridge
Initially he didn't recognise us cos we were wearing our NY skirts
and realisation came to him a few seconds later HAHAHA

Miss sanbas' trollness ;)

My holiday is largely spent on YFC and mugging
YFC is fun! :D
Really glad to have Shu Liyang and Chia as team mates
and so many friends like Kaixuan Samantha Yilin Limin
who have helped us so much along the way!

HAHAHA Talking about Limin!!
Got one time we were doing street sales in Ang Mo Kio together
A guy came up and donated
Then he said "I can't see the hole (to put the money in)"
While I was pointing the hole to him
Limin was laughing beside me
making me wonder why she's laughing so hard
After that she said "cos I thought the guy said 开心 dio ho!" (开心就好)
Laogonggong you're becoming deaf like me! xD

I was walking walking then I saw moumou "W"
standing at the side of the road like a statue
holding up his donation bag while reading his notes! xO
I know you need to study for blocks
but quoting Mr Khoo
if you want to do something do it properly mah! aiyooo~

But at least "W" was better than a few juniors of mine/ours
When Weihui told me I couldn't believe my ears
Apparently these juniors were spotted shopping
and buying drinks and food and not doing street sales
They just spent the whole time slacking
in return for CIP hours

I don't like this 不劳而获ness
They could have done so much to contribute
What's the point of having so many CIP hours
when you know that in fact you have not contributed anything at all?
They have totally shown us how irresponsible they are
and it doesn't reflect well on our school

It's not how heavy their donation bags are that matters
it's the effort put in that counts
Like the ChungCheng boyboys
their donation bags are not considered heavy
but I've seen them working hard under the scorching sun
and I feel happy for them
because they really have the heart to give back to society

The girls need to correct their attitude and mindsets
It's really disappointing D:

Shall resume mugging! :P
Really could have done a lot better
so must buck up already!! :)

Lots of weird NYGH parody accounts appearing on Twitter
tweeting weird stuffs
